The sacred heart is one of the only things that still resonates with me from when I used to be Catholic. I remember falling in love with the symbol at a young age- the flames, the crown of thorns, and the vulnerable human heart. It's something that I've separated from its Catholic context and turned into something that I can have a relationship with. The sacred heart is a beautiful depiction of passion and something that's evoked a very primal response from me ever since I could remember.
